No More Ministry :(

        Taken from Sideline Magazine

Out on September 21st via the band's very own imprint 13th Planet Records is Ministry's "The Last Sucker" CD. To be the band's final studio release, the first limited edition of "The Last Sucker" will be made available in a very special hologram cover showing George W. Bush turning into a reptile when moving the hologram. The anti-Bush feelings do not stop there as throughout the complete album you'll be able to find snippets of Bush sound bites and samples. Al Jourgensen: "My engineer and I were hunched over a computer for nights on end listening to this f***ing idiot until our minds were numb. I mean, I'm absolutely stupider for listening to his drivel for such concentrated periods of time, but I viewed including these sound bites as a necessary evil."

When this Bush Dynasty comes to an end in 2009 people are probably just going to be lost. The socially aware musicians will have less to sing about, the comedians will have less material and what will Stephen Colbert do? Then again, neo cons tend to still take shots at Clinton even though he's been out of office for awhile now. So I guess those on the other side can rip on GW forever...

New Musak..

So how do you absorb new music?

First I focus on the guitar/bass.. if things sound great there.. I wait for the vocals. The vocals are what generally seal the deal. There's nothing worse than a vocalist who can't carry a note, especially when everything else the band has to offer is copacetic. Right now I'm listening to the Golden Apes.

They're a German darkwave/goth act that I didn't expect much from. German vocalists tend to go a few different ways, some of them sound far too robotic to be singers while others have very powerful vocals that just soar. Golden Apes passed the vocal test though, their vocalist has very deep vocals and he can hit a note. His vocals aren't unlike the dude from Zeraphine's but deeper. The music itself is very old school darkwave/goth sounding. Very atmospheric, synthy, full sounding. They kind of remind me of Ikon, but with less of a Cure influence.

http://www.myspace.com/goldenapes

Found out about em due to a torrent site of all things. Kinda sad when I discover more new goth bands through sites that pirate music than I do the ezines that claim to be dedicated to the goth scene. But it isn't the ezines fault.. heavens no. They're too busy focusing on the bands of yesterday and disco bands.. oh and lip service outfits, I mean we can't expect them to do it all? Can we?

Speaking of new music..

Cute cover, eh?

It's the single for the Cruxshadow's "Birthday", which turned out to be one of the faves from their latest album. But when it comes to the Cruxshadows, the fans always get much more than one or two songs on the bands singles.

1. Birthday
2. Birthday (Radio edit)
3. The Eighth Square
4. Birthday (Through the Looking Glass club mix)
5. White Rabbit

So that's two different mixes of "Birthday" and two unreleased tracks. I've never heard "The Eight Square", so I'm assuming it's a brand new track. As for their cover of "White Rabbit", if it's anything like their live version of the classic track, the fans are in for a treat.

You can pre-order it here

Well now I'm off to maim the tree trimmers across the street. They woke me up far to early and that can be quite lethal..

Yo Joe

"10-second review: Transformers: Imagine two Humvees in a head-on collision, backing up and colliding again. For two and a half hours."

The above is not mine.. I'm merely regurgitating something I read..

I've been hearing good things about it as well though, I just have to wait 8 months until its on HBO to see it.

I still need to go and see Sicko.. that I won't wait on.

I imagine GI Joe will eventually be a movie..

Not that I'll see it..

I watched that cartoon and read the comic for years as a kid. I waited and I waited for Cobra to get the upper hand, just once. But noooooo.. the Joes always kicked Cobra's butt. Cobra had the better soldiers, the better vehicles.. the cooler headquarters.. and Cobra Commander had that funny lisp. But yet the Joes always won regardless of how superior Cobra was.

Then that damn cartoon would get all preachy and do that whole..

"Playing with hookers is bad.. knowing is half the battle.. YO JOE" bs..

Bah..

And not once did they ever mention in that cartoon what Cobra wanted with the world? Did Cobra Commander just want the fame? Did he want to make the world a better place? Did he just like to blow things up? Was he touched in a bad place as a child? I mean all they ever wrote into the stories was that he wanted to rule. It would have nice to know what his ideas were.. its kinda nice to know these things before picking which side to support. I mean Skeletor laid his plans out better. He wanted Castle Greyskull because he wanted the power to rule and make people do his bidding and he wanted to make things dark and spooky and stuff... I was able to get behind his platform far easier. Well it was also easier since well.. He-Man wore pink when he wasn't fighting.. I mean pink? I'm not supporting anyone wearing pink.. it isn't because I think it's a gay thing.. its just that pink is soo 1985.

Think it's time for air..

L'ame Immortelle and a Zombie Apocalypse.. sims style

Taken from Sideline
Out now via Gun Supersonic as well is L'ame Immortelle's 10 year retrospective best Of album "10 Jahre". "10 Jahre" presents the highlights of their career with hit tracks and fan favourites taken from each of their albums. This release also includes 2 brand new exclusive tracks ("Let Me Fall" and "Come Closer"). The full tracklist goes like this:

5 Jahre, Phonix, Nur Du, Tiefster Winter, Aus den Ruinen, Fallen Angel, Stumme Schreie, Judgement, Lass Mich Fallen, Du Siehst Mich Nicht, Gefallen, Stern, Bitterkeit, Figure In The Mirror, Life Will Never Be The Same, Come Closer, No Tomorrow

Spooky Sims...
Zombie Apocalypse (v1b) for TS2U+ Made by: Flying Fish Systems (J. M. Pescado & Doctor Boris)

INSTRUCTIONS: Place in your MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\DOWNLO~1 directory.

FEATURES: Are zombies boring? Does their lack of brain-eating bother you? Zombies will now attempt to attack other sims and EAT THEIR BRAINS, turning them into zombies as well!

This is probably one of the coolest mods yet.. The Sims allows you to turn dead sims into zombies. Basically what happens is if a sim is dead you can earn a tool to resurrect that sim. But to resurrect that sim it costs money as well. If you don't pay enough, the sim comes back as a zombie rather than human. Now in the game once you have a zombie that zombie can't turn other Sims into zombies, sad, eh? But there are millions of unofficial mods, Zombie Apocalypse is one of them. This mod allows the zombies to pick fights with sims and when that sim loses the fight.. that sim becomes a zombie.. Pretty cool.. eh? The coolest part is the zombies do it on their own, the player doesn't have to tell them to attack. So one can watch the plague spread all on its own. And some thought the Sims was for women.. tsk.. tsk.. So now there are the vampires, werewolves, plant people and fully operational zombies.. yay..

You can download these mods here

Poor Manson

Well Manson is in the news again.. but it isn't about how shocking he is..

Marilyn Manson kicked out of Cologne Cathedral
Uglyface Marilyn Manson has been refused the entrance to the Cologne Cathedral, better known under the German name Kölner Dom. Manson who apparently keeps on looking like a drag all day long showed up covered in make-up, speaking of having some respect. Manson was in Cologne to attend the opening evening of his first European exhibition of his Marilyn Manson paintings. Manson claims to have begun his career as a watercolor painter in 1999 when he made five-minute concept pieces and sold them to drug dealers. 40 pieces from his work have now traveled to Germany's Gallery Brigitte Schenk in Cologne to be publicly exhibited from June 28 until July 28, 2007. Critics are not really raving about the work which has already been described as being similar to works of a psychiatric patient given materials to use as therapy.

The above was taken from Sideline Magazine.

There used to be a time when he was banned from places because he was the big bad evil. Now he's just being banned from places because they consider him embarrassing. The poor boy has fallen from rock star grace. But while one falls from rock star grace, an old rock star has made it back to the top. Bon Jovi's new album, Lost Highway is #1 on Billboard.com this week. All of the 80's hair bands who copied him are ten years dead, but Jon Bon still manages to chart every time he releases an album. I guess it proves he actually has talent because he obviously isn't #1 because the teeny boppers like him and he obviously isn't #1 because he's a gangsta rapper. He's #1 because people actually like his music, go figure.

And Bon Jovi is down with this goth side, just check this out.. it's all sad and stuff.. oh wait.. embedded videos don't work on this thing.. nvm.

Notability
In order for something to have a legitimate entry on wikipedia, it has to have some level of notability. In the mods opinion this means a review or an article of sort describing what the site is about and its accomplishments. What it does not include is the mere mention of the site on a 3rd party site. In other words, no Ookie Spookie on wiki wiki. Not unless the site can manage to get some decent kudos. Maybe a few teenagers will go out and shoot their classmates and parents and blame it on OS? This would of course give the site the notability crap that it needs in order to be taken seriously. But if that still doesn't work, well look at the bright side, a few less teens ;).

New Goth.. no way..
Violet Tears is a band that has been around since 1998, but it appears they've released their first cd recently. I decided to give it a spin and it isn't bad, isn't bad at all. It's very traditional gothic rock like and should please those who miss the style of gothic rock coming out in the 90's. They remind me of earlier Faith and the Muse and the Shroud but with a bit more of an early Cure sound going for them. A review will follow shortly, most likely.

Fuck the Transformers, here are the Transmorphers
The Divine Madness are featured on the soundtrack to the new flick, The Transmorphers. You can get more info by clicking on the band link in the first sentence. It appears to be a low budget, more freaky version of the Transformers, looks like fun though.

Oh and if you live in California, you should vote for The Divine Madness.. because voting is your responsibility. All you have to do is click on the picture below.
